Old Door

Before

Honestly, decorating with old doors never gets old at my house. And I would like to thank my second love, craigslist. I picked up two doors from a lady in AJ for 10 bucks. I cut one in half at 45's to make this corner shelf and used the other one to spice up my kitchen island.

Chairs

Before...

I went yard sale-ing with my mom and found two of these chairs for 5 bucks each. I did a slipcover for one and reupholstered the other one. I wish I had slipcovered both because lets face it, I have kids.

Flat paint

One of the nice things about buying a new house is starting with a clean slate. I've had a bunch of people ask how I did the wall in my living room. I didn't want to say because for a little while, people thought I was brilliant. Now you will all know the truth. It's not brilliance. It's just spray paint. Which is, in fact, the worlds best invention since walkman and tab. I heart spray paint.

I started with a FLAT blue paint on the wall. Then I got a stencil from Michaels. It was only about 8"x12". If there was one thing I could do differently, I would not be so cheap and buy a bigger stencil from a place like mystencils.com. Learn from my mistake. Next, I got a HIGH GLOSS lacquer spray paint and just sprayed over the stencil. The one I used was from Walmart in the craft section but any high gloss CLEAR paint will work. I thought about doing a frosty lacquer but changed my mind. If anyone does it with frost, e-mail us so I can see the end result.

I know, so easy a caveman could do it.

p.s. the clock above the mantle..... this is what it used to look like. Black and white paint and my favorite stain later and voila.

Door bed

I found these doors at my new favorite antique store in Phoenix called Not Too Shabby. I had been looking for matching doors to make a bed out of for a while and finally lucked out. I added some bun feet and old table legs, used L bracketed to attach two 2x6's, and here is the end result.

Chandelier

This is a before and after of a chandelier I put up in Paysen's room. Tara found it at a yard sale for $5 and I rewired it and spray painted it pink. I put an old frame around it on the ceiling and I want to put old sheet music behind it.
