Here is my boys room. I had originally painted below the chair rail a dark brown so my baby might sleep a little better in a darkened room. But my love for bead board won out in the end. I would do it everywhere if I could.
So here's the question of the day. If you have molding around the room that's lower, is it considered chair rail and if it's higher, it's called wainscoting?
I had some pictures of my boys enlarged at Sams club to go above the molding for an incredible price. Way cheaper than walmart or target. I got the frames from Ikea and painted them dark brown. The window treatments are made from crown molding and the panels are from Bed Bath and Beyond on clearance.
I got this antique bed off craigslist in Apache Junction. It was a little scary driving there, but the guy was nice enough. I know his dog sure liked to lick me.
I purchased the bedding at Home Goods in Scottsdale, bought the toy box and lockers from my sister, Tara. I think she got the lockers off craigslist in Flagstaff. And the dresser I've had for a while now, another craigslist find. It's been a variety of colors now but this red is my favorite. I think it's called rusty red from behr with provincial stain over the top. And I got the vintage rocking horse at Sweet Pea Antiques in Camp Verde.
That's pretty much it. I'm working on getting all my rooms photographed, but can't keep the house all clean enough to do it with 4 terrorists running around behind me. So I guess I'll have to do one room at a time.
This room is fabulous! I love everthing about it. You do the best stuff. I love visiting your blog. I am a huge fan.
ReplyDeleteWhere is the crib? Is this just Porter's room? It is very cute.

ReplyDeleteLove this room! The lockers are awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteWe have light blocking curtains, and I left one open last night in my little guy's room. he woke up yelling, "shut that one, shut that one, mama!"
I love your furniture pieces and their colors!
ReplyDeleteI love how the bed turned out!! You got outa here like my house was on fire last week and now I see why!! Cute!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure that when someone puts molding in the top third of the room, it's called a picture rail. Because walls were plaster and lath construction 100 years ago, people hung picture rails along the top of the walls and just suspended frames from little hooks that hung on the rail. That way they weren't hammering a thousand nails into the plaster, which chips when you put a nail into it and would have been a nightmare.
ReplyDeleteI've saved these pictures in my inspiration file! I have three boys ages 7, 6 and 2.5, and they woul dLOVE this room. :) I love it, too! Wonderful job.
ReplyDeletelove this remodel :)
ReplyDeletequick question... where did you get the lockers?? i've been thinking of getting some for our ridiculous book collection...
